Orientation to Comprehensive Tobacco Control in Ontario
This free, interactive online module will provide you with an overview of comprehensive tobacco control (CTC) in Ontario. You will be introduced to the prevalence of tobacco use, its health effects and its economic impact. You will learn about the historical development of the Smoke-Free Ontario Strategy and program and policy components at multiple levels. Additionally, you will understand the critical role of public health units within this strategy and learn the principles and evidence upon which CTC strategies are founded, drawing on the experience in Ontario and other leading jurisdictions. Current and emerging issues in CTC will also be highlighted.
Target Audience: Staff of local public health units who are new to tobacco control or are interested in receiving a refresher about comprehensive tobacco control in Ontario.
