Smoking on Patios: Levels of Exposure, Health Effects and Impact on Behaviour Change

 


This webinar was presented by the Program Training & Consultation Centre in collaboration with the  in collaboration with the Ontario Tobacco Research Unit, and featured guest presenters Dr. Michael Chaiton and Dr. Roberta Ferrence.

This webinar directly addressed issues relating to smoking exposure on restaurant or bar patios, including new findings on the impact of exposure to smoking on smoking behavior. Using data from the Ontario Tobacco Survey, a longitudinal population representative cohort of smokers (2005-2011), Dr. Chaiton examined the association between exposure to patio smoking and changes in smoking behavior. Dr. Ferrence presented the evidence for secondhand smoke exposure on patios and related health effects.
