Tobacco Control in Ontario: How Well Are We Doing & Where Can We Improve?

 

Findings from OTRU's Smoke-free Ontario Strategy Monitoring Report 2013

Provided by the Program Training and Consultation Centre in collaboration with the Ontario Tobacco Research Unit, this webinar saw the annual presentation of the findings of the Ontario Tobacco Research Unit’s Smoke-Free Ontario Strategy Monitoring Report for 2013.

Dr. Robert Schwartz and Dr. Shawn O'Connor presented the up to date evaluative information about the activities and results of comprehensive tobacco control in Ontario. They presented monitoring information about the activities and results of the Smoke-Free Ontario Strategy, analysis of population-level changes, and explored the contributions of interventions. Included were assessments of changes in the social climate and public support for tobacco control measures. They further highlighted accomplishments and opportunities from the report, with the intention of bringing evidence to bear on the continued development of comprehensive tobacco control in the province.
