This documentation of practice resource was developed to serve the members of the L.E.A.R.N. Tobacco-Free Sports and Recreation (TFSR) Community of Practice (CoP) and their colleagues. It provides insights into a practical case example of how one local public health agency, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH), and a sports organization, Guelph Soccer, worked together to develop, promote and evaluate a tobacco-free policy for the summer 2010 soccer season. This resource outlines the partnership that developed between Guelph Soccer and WDGPH as well as the process Guelph Soccer went through to write the policy and have it approved; the channels that were used to promote the policy; and how these promotional efforts were evaluated.
Below, you will find the following resources:
- two-page summary
- detailed report on what happened
- appendices: collection of documents (work plans, promotional items, budgets and evaluation tools) developed by Guelph Soccer and WDGPH to support the implementation and promotion of the policy
