Using Social Networking Technologies to Engage Young Adults in Smoking Cessation

 
Web-based and/or mobile phone technologies that facilitate social networking provide a wealth of opportunities to engage young adults in smoking cessation. Although young adults in Canada have the highest prevalence of smoking, their use of cessation services and products is low. This backgrounder examines the evidence regarding the use of social networking technologies to engage young adult smokers in smoking cessation and the extent to which it is effective.
