Media Advocacy in Public Health Presentation & Resources

 

The Media Advocacy in Public Health workshops were an in-depth one-day session on developing media advocacy skills to support active living, healthy eating, and tobacco control initiatives. The workshops were delivered in London, ON on June 15, 2011, in Toronto, ON, on June 16, 2011 and in Ottawa, ON, on June 17, 2011.

This one-day workshop introduced participants to the importance and value of media advocacy as a tool to advance healthy public policy and how community mobilization can support local and community level policy efforts.

The workshop presenters included Anne Marie O’Keefe, Professor, Health Policy Morgan State University Baltimore, Maryland, and Lynn Cook, Adjunct Instructor, Health Communication The George Washington University & University of Maryland.
