Developed in response to a need articulated by the LEARN Tobacco Use Reduction for Young Adults Community of Practice (YA CoP), this 2.5-page backgrounder summarizes published research on the prevalence and reasons for late smoking initiation, that is smoking behavior that is initiated after the age of 18 in the young adult population. It was disseminated to the CoP in September 2010. This resource provides a focused update on some of the evidence presented in the Literature Review for Young Adult Cessation/Protection Interventions completed in February 2009.
