Co-delivered by the Program Training and Consultation Centre (PTCC’s field staff) and Health Promotion Capacity Building (HPCB) Services at Public Health Ontario.

This interactive workshop will increase participants’ knowledge, skills and confidence to develop and implement an evaluation plan for their tobacco control activities. Through hands-on activities using local examples and practical tools, participants will learn how to choose the most appropriate methods of measurement and gain skills in data collection and analysis.

Duration: Can be tailored to a full or half-day workshop.

Target Audience: This workshop has been designed for tobacco control staff. It is ideally suited to be delivered to multiple health units from the same TCAN.

Roughly 10% of the population is lesbian, gay, bisexual or queer and the prevalence of tobacco use within these communities is two to three times that of the general population. This workshop will provide a safe place to share, clarify and understand LGBTQ issues, needs and community resources related to tobacco and increase your understanding of ways to encourage LGBTQ positive language, spaces and programming. You will gain an understanding of what it is like to be LGBTQ in a non-LGBTQ world and the impact that has on mental health, addictions and substance use. You will also begin to consider strategies to integrate LGBTQ positive messaging into your tobacco planning and programming.

Duration: Half-day workshop.

Target Audience: Public health unit staff and staff/volunteers of community partner agencies.

Prerequisite: None
